ELKHORN GHOST TOWN

Elkhorn is set in the middle of the forest.  You drive 16 miles
out of Boulder, Mt. to get to it.  The man who found the Gold
is  buried in the Cemetery way up the hill overlooking the town
This town once had 2500 people living there.                          .

This is just coming into town, lots of old house 's barber shops etc,

There are actually still a few people who still live here

This is a store, see the front window,  one of the first display windows, has glass ,
and you can see the items from 3 sides.

There a still a few people leaving in the town,  16 miles on dirt road,
out of the city of Boulder, Mt.

This is a sign up on a hill overlooking the town. There was a
Diphtheria epidemic and they lost a lot of the people in there
town.  It was so sad ,about 75% of the graves were children
One of the families lost 5 children, then the mother died.

Even the old cars died. This is really a neat one, can't you just see this going up
the old dirt road.

This is one of the old mines.  It produced gold, silver, and lead.
Can you imagine the money the gold would have been worth on
today's market.

This was a cabin out on the outskirts of town. ( Suburban life.)

There was a dance hall on the the second floor of one of these.

This was a store of some kind, maybe rented rooms upstairs??

This tells a little history of the town.  Very interesting place.
         .

This house had a second story, see the door up top, but the
staircase is missing completely.
